Job Description
We are seeking an individual with a rare blend of analytical skill, technical expertise, and deep curiosity to join our team. This position is ideal for someone passionate about understanding how decentralized technologies work at a deep level and eager to stay on the cutting edge of blockchain, decentralized finance, and Web3 innovations.
You will work alongside our clients to tackle some of the most sophisticated cryptocurrency and DeFi-related projects. In this role, you will analyze smart contracts, DeFi protocols, and decentralized platforms to uncover fraudulent activity, trace funds, and identify vulnerabilities. In addition, you will be responsible for analyzing and deciphering how new technologies work, including analyzing and understanding network activity.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive analysis of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, including smart contract auditing, liquidity pool mechanics, yield farming, and token issuance.
Proactively identify vulnerabilities in Web3 technologies, including decentralized applications (dApps), decentralized exchanges (DEXs), and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), preventing potential exploits.
Utilize advanced blockchain analysis tools to trace illicit transactions across decentralized networks, identifying patterns of fraud or cybercrime.
Conduct comprehensive blockchain analysis, utilizing your expertise in web3, smart contracts, and smart contract programming languages to trace the flow of cryptocurrency and identify fraudulent activities.
Engage in proactive threat hunting, including identifying potential vulnerabilities in a variety of areas including source code, smart contracts and other related technologies before they materialize into exploits.
Develop a deep understanding of the dark web and illegal darknet market ecosystem to initiate and support criminal investigations.
Develop and deploy sophisticated cyber tools and techniques, including crafting custom software for investigatory purposes.
Collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies, providing expert insights and technical support to aid in the capture and prosecution of cybercriminals.
Create tools to monitor and understand peer-to-peer networks which power decentralized technologies.
Analyze open-source and private codebases and relay their technical workings to a non-technical person.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in the Web3 and DeFi space, applying this knowledge to ongoing investigations.
Job Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen to comply with government contracts and security clearance requirements.
Security Clearance: Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation and obtain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
Expertise in distributed technologies, particularly peer-to-peer protocols and blockchain networks that power decentralized platforms.
Proficient in one or more programming languages relevant to distributed applications (e.g., Solidity, Go, Rust)
Proficiency in Python and other relevant scripting languages for analytical purposes.
Deep understanding of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem, particularly within the context of DeFi and Web3.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Flexibility to travel on a case-by-case basis to work embedded with cybercrime investigators.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear insights.
Passion for learning, growth mindset, and the drive to mentor those around you.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, when necessary, due to the nature of the investigations.
Preferred Qualifications:
An active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
Experience developing and deploying Solidity smart contracts using development frameworks such as Hardhat, Foundry, or Brownie.
Formal education in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a related field (advanced degrees are a plus).
Experience analyizing DeFi-related protocols, including smart contract exploits, rug pulls, or fraudulent decentralized finance schemes.
Familiarity with decentralized exchanges (DEXs), yield farming mechanisms, governance tokens, and DAOs.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously under pseudonyms in investigative environments, with a passion for uncovering the truth while maintaining high levels of confidentiality and operational security.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think both like a hacker and a detective.
